As soon as you mention pick-a-nick table, Yogi shows up.

Not my most recent fall, but the one before that was when pulling over to a picnic table. My now-exH and I were biking on a trail, got to a park and pulled off the trail to go to a picnic shelter that had a number of tables under it, some of which were occupied by guys just hanging out (not picnicking, just ... hanging out). We rode over the grass, he in front.

By the time I got to the shelter, I was traveling so slowly that when my front tire hit the concrete pad, my bike stopped absolutely dead and I fell over. It was such a ridiculous fall, I started laughing on the way down (and am laughing now about it)! I lay there in the dirt and laughed my head off. No one else moved a muscle; since I was laughing, I suppose it was obvious I wasn't hurt. Embarrassed, though; zero momentum falls almost always look very silly, and this one certainly did!

Your not supposed to fall down! Your supposed to stop at the picnic table for a sip from that bottle of nectar your toting. :D

Speaking of Yogi.... Here is a picture of the 'snacktime skunk' in his imitation Yogi outfit, waiting for pic-a-nic-ers to come by.

Apparently you need reminding that Yogi is a BROWN bear who also eats pic-a-nic-ers
(; so I would cool it the the 'snacktime skunk' remarks).

Notice that i said imitation Yogi outfit. Sorrynot reallyabout the 'snacktime skunk' remark. I won't post any more about it.unless i find some good pictures The 'snacktime skunk' has been around so long, i couldn't bear it any longer.
Now wait just a bear-flea pickin minute, there's no mention in the Yogi cartoons about Yogi eating pic-a-nic-ers. Or post-ter-ers, for that matter.

North American Brown Bears (aka Grizzlies) are noted for their aggressiveness. The American Black Bear (which Yogi most likely is) shares most of the same habitat and are noticeably more docile, except when food is concerned.

Orin, the point (I remember now I did have one!) of my relating the tale of my zero momentum fall at the picnic tables was that I'd have been better off not stopping; I should have kept on going! 'Twas the stopping that made me fall!

bystander, I dunno; Yogi definitely looks brown to me.

Hmm... I thought it would have been lack of balance followed by a big dose of gravity, and just perhaps, all that laughter on the way down to terra-ferma.

There's sump'n wrong with the delivery system here. I get e-mail notification this morning a reply's been posted, immediately click the 'read' link, & see the 'pull over to picnic table'....as the latest post. I post my "tonight we ride" snippet, and 'the machine' jumps me back to the thread, where I learn there's 17+ intervening responses!!
So...sorry to be such a Johnny Come Lately, & hope I didn't 'miss the moment' or the mood train (tho my Yogi reference is indeed smeared with mootness due to its now excruciatingly apparent latency).......but t'warn't my doin's, folks. Blame Teh Machinen!!

Friday super num num num splurge!

Art, it was fun to see your image of the flying spaghetti monster! :D

For myself, I've celebrated Friday with a super num num num odyssey thorugh the streets of Malmö.

First I went to a chocolateria whose egg liqeuer pralines are to die for! The egg liqeuer ones are the dark roundish ones in the very foreground here. I also bought some beer flavoured milk chocolate truffles! Yummm!

Image
Then I went to another chocolateria to buy rich soft non-sticky toffee pralines in a thick milk chocolate coating, and some pistachio truffle pralines coated in 70% plain chocolate. This is Stefan in the picture, the owner of this chocolateria.

Then I went to a shop which sells locally produced fruit and vegetables. I bought locally produced strawberries, raspberries and apples.

Right next door to the vegetable shop is an organic bakery, where I bought some Danish rye bread, as well as a small jar of whisky mustard and a slightly bigger jar of rhubarb and black currant jam.

Image
Since I hadn't eaten anything yet (or make that, I hadn't eaten much, just a few pralines), I went to this lovely restaurant to have a late lunch. I had a large juicy piece of cod fillet with thinly sliced beetroots and carrots, crumbs of bacon and delicious semi-dried cherry tomatoes on the vine in a mildly lemony sauce. Yuummm!!

And then I hurried home to do the laundry. That's another Friday tradition for me - splurging is another one!

Orin, i see that you're celebrating your 3000th post with desert. Way to go Orin :!: But I'm wondering how a third of the deserts have negative votes :?: Did someone keep eating them up before they could tally the votes :?: ::insert dessert -pig out- smilie here::

OOPS, i just saw that your 3000th post was in the communications forum, so i guess you came here after to celebrate with Dessert. Still, -Way to go Orin- :!:
