Elliptical galaxy NGC 1404 in the southern constellation of Fornax is at it again, producing a supernova. Last time was four years ago, and the supernova was interesting enough to warrant an article on the Chandra homepage. Read about it here.
Now NGC 1404 has produced supernova 2011iv, a type Ia supernova. A bright one at that, at magnitude 12.2. See this page.
