Hi All,
I am an amateur astronomer from Bangalore,India. I would like to share me photo of "The Black Drop Effect" with all of you. It is captured with a skywatcher 8" f/5 newtonian reflector on an NEQ-6 Pro Goto mount using a Baader solar film ND 3.8 It is my first shot at solar astrophotography. It is an unprocessed shot taken at ISO 100 and exposure of 1/4000 of a second. Hope you all like it. https://picasaweb.google.com/1009564279 ... 3757117554

So as the sun was dipping lower, i moved the tripod to try and catch the sun entering some nearby trees, for a more artistic shot of the Venus transit. Lo and behold, they are right, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometime! Is that a plane? A bird, no it's Venus AND a plane eclipsing the sun!

After sitting in clouds and rain for almost 3 hours, the sun decided to peek through the clouds for this shot as it set.
It was a surreal view through my camera, as you can see the storm clouds rolling across the sun's face with tiny Venus looming in the foreground.
I got lucky, as this exact view lasted less than 10 seconds before clouds covered the sun's face and then it set moments later.

So many fabulous and interesting images: Venus with airplanes; with birds; bodies of water and ships!
Amazing.

Double thumbs up to all imagers:

Location:
Lübeck, Germany

Details:
An amazing spectacle unfolded at sunrise. I photographed the rising Sun from the coast of the Baltic Sea (Germany)and it was not only Venus who stole the show, but the green flash was also visible. I'll probably remember this image for the rest of my life!
