For your APOD Consideration.

I have received over 2,300 image views on this picture I took on Saturday. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rangerbob/8749317275/

I like this one better myself. I may be biased though, why I posted both images.

Details: Pumpjacks near Bruderheim. Taken with a Canon T3i and 8mm Bower Fish Eye Lens ISO 6400 - 30 seconds. The Northern Lights as seen from Edmonton, AB, Canada were Horizon to Horizon from North to South. We sought refuge in the dark skies outside the city to find some scenic spots to shoot photos of the Geomgnetic storm from.

Again, thanks for your consideration.

Here is Greg's "3" asterism that I discovered in Leo just a couple of months ago. The centre of the "3" is at:
RA 09 37 21.17
DEC +15 20 43.49

It really does appear this way up and this bright through a scope :D :D
Greg
Reminds me of a picture I took a couple of years ago while on a night cruise on the Seine:

(There might have been wine involved....)
Just a few more "3s" in your shot :D :D

I'm slowly getting a grip on pixinsight and finally can improve on some imagery made in the recent past. This image of the Elephant Trunk nebula is still one of my favorites, and the colors seem much more natural now...

Sun inverted
Copyright: Álvaro Ibáñez Pérez
Web: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kokehtz/

The image was recorded in a single color of light called Hydrogen Alpha (H-Alpha), inverted, and false colored. The gradual brightening towards the Sun's edges is caused by increased absorption of relatively cool solar gas and called limb darkening. Spicules cover much of the Sun's face. Several scintillating prominences protrude, while prominences on the Sun's face are seen as light streaks. The most visually interesting of all are the magnetically tangled active regions containing cool sunspots.

Two days ago NASA released a new image of M57. I had processed this data before, so I couldn't hold my self and combined my processing together with Subaru data and data from the Large Binocular Telescope to get this result. I think this shows M57 with a detail never shown before.
