Hello,

Here is a DEEP view of the Cocoon nebula with some of the dark LDN nebulae west of it.

Enjoy,

Hello,

here is my Dumbbell nebula M27 in the constellation of vulpecula. Exposed with the Moravian G2-8300 on Newtonian 12" f/ with 7 channels: L R G B Ha OIII Hb. The total exposure time was 28 hours. LRGBHaOIIIHb = 350:100:100:100:350:350:350 minutes with 10 minutes subexposures.

Enjoy

NGC 3247 and NGC 3199 in Carina

http://www.irida-observatory.org

Copyright: Velimir Popov, Emil Ivanov

NGC 3247 - This giant HII region and massive star formation region in the Carina arc is associated with the star cluster Westerlund 2. There are two Wolf Rayet stars (WR 20a and WR 20b) as well as at least a dozen O-stars within this massive cluster. The hottest known O-star is the O3V. A 2007 study gives a distance estimate of 26 000 ly +/- 4 500 ly.

NGC 3199 - Hanging out some 11 736 light years away in the southern constellation of Carina, NGC 3199 is classed as a diffuse nebula embedded with a Wolf-Rayet star. Near the center of the ring is a Wolf-Rayet star, a massive, hot, short-lived star that generates an intense stellar wind.

The images was taken in Namibia on May 2013 during our Southern Sky expedition.

A Deep Field from Geisling, Germany

I always loved the Hubble Deep Field image and I wanted to try a similar image. One of the galaxies in the center is IC3949.

Enjoy counting.

A Light in the Gulf of Mexico

I took an image of the Gulf of Mexico in NGC 7000 in July 2013 with my 12" f/4 Newtonian and a Moravian G2-8300 CCD Camera.
I exposed 7 filters: L R G B Ha OIII Hb. Exposure time was 70 minutes for L, R, G , B with subs of 5 minutes, 820 minutes for Ha, 300 minutes for OIII and Hb with 20 minutes subs.
At the “coast” of the gulf you see a little yellow piece of nebula which I extracted to the small image below. I do not know what it is and I have never seen it before on other pictures.
If anyone knows what it is please contact me at my homepage http://www.wittich.com

Thanks

Reinhold

Above the Glacier
Author: Lorenzo Comolli ( http://www.astrosurf.com/comolli/index2.htm )
Description: late summer is the best season to look at the glaciers without a snow coverage. This image seems to be in daylight but was gathered in moonlight, on the night of Full Moon, this month. The Pers and Morteratsch Glaciers are visible below from the viewpoint of Diavolezza, 3000 m, Switzerland. The mountains are Piz Palù (3901 m) and Piz Bernina (4049 m), on the Swiss-Italian border. Only a little bit of Milky Way is visible due to moonlight "pollution". Canon 5D + Samyang 14mm at f/4, 30 s exp.

Autumn auroras with twilight

© Thomas Kast, All Rights Reserved
http://www.facebook.com/salamapaja

On August 27, 2013, the Earths interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) tilted and solar wind was able to flow into our atmosphere creating wonderful Northern lights. This photo is taken at a lake shore near Oulunsalo, Finland. You can see the reflection of the twilight at the bottom of the photo. The best part of this 'twirl' lasted about 5 minutes before it got weaker. What you see is a 114 degrees view. For any more information, don't hesitate to contact me.

Location: "Observatorio del Roque de Los Muchachos" (La Palma, Canary Islands. Spain)
Equipment: Canon EOS 5D Mark II + Samyang 14mm 2.8 + tripod + intervalometer.
EXIF: 14mm - ISO 6400 - F/2.8 - 35 segundos.

This photograph shows the 10.4-meter Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC - http://www.gtc.iac.es/GTChome.php), located at the Observatorio del Roque de Los Muchachos (http://www.iac.es/eno.php?op1=2&lang=en) in the island of La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain), next to the heart of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. The silhouette of a person to the right of the telescope is dwarfed by the splendour of La Palma starry night and the GTC. The picture dramatically shows the evolution of thousands of years of human exploration of the skies. The GTC, with a light collecting area over two million times larger than the human eye, is one of the most advanced machines designed to explore the Universe.

This photograph is a pano of 13 photos. that shows the radial row clouds that covered the sky of the Marana Sonora Desert in morning of August 27, 2013.\
They reached from horizon to horizon.
This photograph is a pano of 20 photos. that shows the radial row clouds just before further turbulence completely broke up the "fingerprint" rows.

Perseids, Milky way and Gegenschein
Copyright: Petr Horálek (Úpice observatory)

A mosaic of maximum of Perseid meteor shower from Ivan Dolac (Hvar island, Croatia) above peaks Začerbina and Gvozd. The image shows 79 meteors of Perseid meteor shower cought from 7th to 14th August 2013. The brightest meteor was about -8 magnitude. I used stronger saturation in brown-red color to highlight the interstellar matter of Milky way and also stronger gamma for zodiacal bridge and Gegenschein, which is up-right on the image. The image in higher dimension (2000x1305 px): http://www.astronom.cz/horalek/gallery/ ... 0px_sm.JPG.
