No image "has got to" be shown on APOD (which has a mission, BTW, that it seeks to fulfill), and I find such language not only unfortunate, but distasteful (though it is certainly common). APOD is not a competition, nor is it an entitlement program.
Regardless of whether this image appears on APOD, it's a wonderful find and a beautiful and interesting image, and should be celebrated and appreciated for its own intrinsic worth.
