This is a very impressive and unexpected result! There must be lots of these tidal streams associated with many galaxies if you go deep enough. Is this part of the TBG group?

I've never understood why this nebula isn't considered to be popular! There are very few detailed images and yours is certainly one of the best amateur images of this often overlooked southern gem! I would love to see a HaOIIIRGB composite of this by someone like Don Goldman.

The Moon & Its Color

Link to Homepage and further description: http://www.astrofreunde-franken.de/mond.html
Copyright: Claus-Dieter Müller (myself)
Description:

Our Moon: The satellite of the earth is only the fifth largest moon in our solar system. It has a diameter of about 3476 km. To this day he is the only foreign celestial body a man has ever set foot. Nevertheless, there is much that can be explored on the moon. The surface structure of the moon is made of craters, mountains and lowlands. Between the highest point and the lowest point of the Moon are approximately 16,000 m difference in height. Most craters caused by asteroid impacts. Since the invention of the telescope the intensive observation and exploration of the Moon began, which continues to this day.

Thanks for looking.
Kind regards

Full Panorama from Neuschwanstein Castle at Night

Image

The first quarter moon was next to the open star cluster of the Hyades this March 7th.
The bavarian castle of Neuschwanstein is extremely bright illuminated. Most of this artificial
light however, does not hit the building. Light and Energy is wasted directly into the night sky,
the classic form of light pollution.

This was a frame near the end of an overnight time lapse that had too many clouds. It started clearing off near dawn and these clouds showed up nicely with the stars in the background.

Not quite a Tatooine Sunset

A layer of fog above the Pacific Ocean refracts the light in such a way that for a short time two distinct images of the setting sun are visible: a bright yellow one, and below that a dimmer reddish-orange one. Seen from Ridgecrest Boulevard on Mount Tamalpais, Marin County, California.

Vernal Equinox Sunset

Post by conemmil » Fri Mar 21, 2014 5:37 am

Yesterday the weather was beautiful allowing to enjoy a very fine sunset in Thessaloniki Greece. The road shown in the picture is called Nikolaou Germanou and it is aligned exactly on the East-West axis ending at the White Tower, a national monument and a landmark of the city itself. Spring is here at the Northern hemisphere and we can enjoy nature's starting to blossom everywhere!
