Hubble Space Telescope has just published en new image of the famous pillars in the Eagle Nebula. We have processed it as an animated gif to show the movements visible in the image of 2014 compared to the image released in 1995.

Moonglow

This is how you see the sky 14 degrees north latituted. Facing South.

In this amazing seascape, I want to show not only the amazing moonglow interacting with the atmosphere also, the amazing colors of the sea and waves. Airglow over the horizon.

Information about the image:

Focal Ratio: F8
Camera: STXL-11002 + AOX
Camera Sensitivity: Luminance BIN 1x1, RGB BIN 1x1
Exposure Details: Lum 600sec x 14, RGB 480sec x 8

Comment: Take over two nights, being hot and gusty. One night having very good seeing, whilst the second was very poor. Taken on the shortest nights of the year for us down-under.
I never realised M78 was positioned on the edge of the Barnards Loop, and hence the red nebulousity to the one side.
