Firefly Trails and the Summer Milky Way

Explanation: A camera fixed low to a tripod on a northern summer's eve captured the series of images used in this serene, southern Ontario skyscape. The lakeside view frames our fair galaxy above calm water and the night's quintessential luminous apparitions. But the trails of light are neither satellite glint, nor meteor flash, nor auroral glow. In the wide-field composite constructed with four consecutive 15 second exposures, a pulsing firefly enters at the right, first wandering toward the camera, then left and back toward the lake, the central Milky Way rising in the background.

In the information with the nice photo in Malcolm Park's section in the SmugMug photo hosting website it states "Circle Of Confusion 0.030 mm". Could someone please state what that means?

Why don't you link directly to whatever you are talking about instead of only describing it? It makes it a chore to figure out what you're referencing.

What? It takes a few seconds for you to copy and paste the URL of whatever page you are looking at. I tried figuring it out on my own and gave up because I can't find it. So, yes, it was a chore, and I also got nowhere.

Perhaps more than you need, but the Wikipedia page "Circle of Confusion" has it all laid out for the curious.

In short... "In optics, a circle of confusion is an optical spot caused by a cone of light rays from a lens not coming to a perfect focus when imaging a point source."

Really. That's the last time I try to help you. Help yourself. You can look up Wikipedia articles.

I think that is why I like the format of this forum. Linking sites on a post is a good way to show rather than tell. For any writing it's easy to miscommunicate one's thoughts and links help the process. Of course the goal is just to get an idea from point A to point B (to those in internet-land) and, however it happens, what you get is a good way to work on writing skills.

If you choose, throw in a little sarcasm or a pinch of humor to spice up the literary recipe and "post" happens.
