APOD: Shadowrise and Sunset (2017 Jun 01)

Image Shadowrise and Sunset

Explanation: The road tracking through this stunning 360 degree view crosses a remote mountain area of Jämtland, Sweden, planet Earth. A 3x8 mosaic of still images, the panorama was taken on May 3rd from a small drone 200 meters above the ground. The scene records the warm light of the Sun setting in the northwest and the planet's dark shadow rising in the southeast. A small sun pillar gives away the Sun's position just below the horizon while the pinkish anti-twilight arch or belt of Venus outlines Earth's shadow. In the middle of the remarkably clear sky, the First Quarter Moon is visible above the mountains, its half illuminated disk separating sunset and shadowrise. A range of exposures were combined to cover the difference in sky brightness for sunset and Earth shadow. The tallest peak left of the sunset is Storsnasen, some 1400 meters above sea level.

Love the blue tit at top! :D

What's that other bird, its face all yellow and a tuft at top?

A couple of observations about today’s APOD:
1/ The road seems to be labeled “1019” in Google Streetview, if I got the location correct. It only goes to Storulvån Mountain Lodge. Sort of Swedish Overlook Hotel?
2/ Excellent mosaic, as the sides fit perfectly by shape and near-perfect by color (probably because of capture time difference).
3/ May 3rd gives almost 17 hours (04:42–21:34) of daylight at 63°N. Wow.
4/ I would expect the sky to be equally bright near the horizon in the south-west and the north east, halfway between shadowrise and sunset. See red circled areas in this image. Can someone explain why the south-west might seems brighter?

Just a guess, Case, but if the difference is not caused by the combination of different exposures, it might be that in the time it took to take each exposure, the sky was also getting darker.

The apparent brightness of the atmosphere is determined significantly by dust and moisture content. It is easy enough to believe that there's a difference in the quality of the atmosphere over several hundred kilometers in opposite directions.

I suspect it has less to do with the Swedish Flag than it does with the colors in the Shadowrise and Sunset.

I quite agree, but that wasn't neufer's question.

I've learned that neufer's questions are rarely actually questions, or at least he's not really asking what he is asking.
And I feel that today's is no exception to that rule.

I also don't think the posting of the two birds really had anything to do with Sweden, per se, but far be it from me to state the obvious. I do that all too often here.

Neufer squandered a very obvious opportunity to make a good tit joke. The silly boob.

Single swede.
That's right, because that yellow bird is not a swede!

Blue and yellow...whatever!

I don't think they're swedes, though.
