Absolutely one of our best nights stargazing at Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. Who's your favorite person to get outdoors and adventure with? I think one of the most exciting feelings as a photographer is knowing you created a special shot. That's the yelling and screaming in excitement feeling knowing the conditions and composition lined up how you envisioned the scene in your mind. (single 15 second photo Nikon Z6 and 24mm lens).

Thanks, Mike, that's such a fascinating picture of a beautiful, blue and pink and slightly "twisted" spiral galaxy and a quite amazing-looking yellow background galaxy, which is doing a superb job at impersonating an intruding satellite galaxy of NGC 578!

Hi Michael and welcome to Starship Asterisk*! That's a very fine series of lunar eclipse pictures. I love the colors of the largest Moon picture, how the "sunset illumination" is deep red at the Moon's lower right limb, how it becomes orange at upper right, and how the upper left limb is luminous with a pearly blue light!

Just in time for Halloween...

This is a target I have been hoping to process for a while and have always been mesmerized by the intricate filaments and details in the SHO data I've seen. For this version I wanted to accentuate those details while keeping the rich star field and more subtle details around the edges. Overall my goal was to communicate both the turbulent nature of the nebula while nodding to its spooky, hairy namesake.

Arp 273 - The Cosmic Rose

At a distance of 300 million light years, this Cosmic Rose was positioned well for 8 hours each evening. I was able to collect lots of subs and discard anything over 2" FWHM. (-:

The Tre Cime of Lavaredo illuminated by the Moon that reflects a Spectrum of Brocken behind me; Jupiter on top of summits, the Ursa Major up the cross of Mount Paterno (2,746 mt) and at the top of highest peak the headlights of the climbers to illuminate their ascent to the summit.
