Moai doppelganger and the Milky Way core

During our expedition through the Atacama Desert in March 2022, we found right under Rho Ophiuchi this singular and natural Moai (iconic Easter Island statues) doppelganger looking directly to the Milky Way. We found it in an area called “La Pacana”, which is a wide uninhabited silicic ignimbrite volcanic field relatively close to the Chilean-Argentinian border. To have a better idea of the size of these rocks, we decided to include a person in the frame pointing to the Milky Way central region.

NGC 4833 Globular Cluster in Musca (The Fly)

Deep south in the constellation of Musca (The Fly) we found this very old globular cluster. Evidence obtained indicate it is about 2 billion years old... thats more than M5 and M92. NGC 4833 is obscured by dust and is situated close to the galactic plane. It spans over a diameter of 42 light years.
It was discovered by French astronomer Abbé Lacaille during his journey to South Africa in the years 1751 1752, and it was catalogued in 1755. James Dunlop and John Herschel observed and catalogued decades later from Australia and South Africa respectively with better instruments.

On the evening of August 5th, I was waiting for the green flash to appear. There was a thick cloud band in the western sky at that time, with only a little clear sky over the sea. When the sun came out through the gap in the clouds, a beautiful and startling sun appeared. Because of the difference in the thickness of the clouds, the sun shows streaks of various colors, like the sun with makeup! It also contains 3 sunspots. I really can't describe it in more words. The Milky Way over Cape San Blas

One year ago today, I took a small trip to Cape San Blas to take in the sunset, the stars, and capture some amazing scenes. Yesterday, Google reminded me of my trip last year, so I decided to look back at my RAW files and started working on this blended image. This is a composite image with the Milky Way captured at a different part of the beach. Image captured last August.

Stunning display of anticrepuscular rays. The monsoon has been hitting central Colorado pretty solidly this year, with afternoon thunderstorms nearly every day. Wasn't expecting this when I went out to hay the horses! Kind of knocked my socks off. The rays converge in the east at the center of a partial rainbow. And they extended overhead and behind me, about halfway to the western horizon (where the Sun was just poking out of the clouds enough to get a bit of a rainbow going).

This is a mosaic of 25 individual frames taken with my phone over less than a minute.

Hi Everybody, here is my first official submission. I took this photo (163 actually) on August 4, 2022 at 8:52pm as the ISS flew overhead here in Fort Worth, Texas. I used a smartphone on a 12" Dobsonian telescope, tracked by hand. I've been working on the technique for over a year now.

NGC-7000 The North America Nebula - SHO (The Cygnus Wall)

I managed to get two clear-ish nights. I didn't get all of the data that I wanted to on the OIII emission line but I was able to a bit. The Cygnus wall has been a favorite of mine since I started AP almost 2 years ago.

I'm not going to put a big long write up on this one...Wikipedia/Google/Nasa have better write-ups than what I can come up with and I don't want to plagiarize.
