Help me identify a star

I live in Pensacola,Fl. My back patio faces the west. Just after sunset, there is only one visable star, it is high in the southwest sky and extremely bright. Over a period of a few hours, it gets lower on my visable horizon and appears to move more to the west. Can anybody tell me what star this is
