Solar Stormwatch: another Zooinverse project

by JeanTate » Thu Sep 23, 2010 3:12 pm

In addition to its first project, Galaxy Zoo (now Hubble Zoo), Zooinverse has created Solar Stormwatch:
Solar scientists need you!

Help them spot explosions on the Sun and track them across space to Earth. Your work will give astronauts an early warning if dangerous solar radiation is headed their way. And you could make a new scientific discovery.
It has its own blog and forum.

Of course, one of the really cool things that you do in this Citizen Science project is discover comets! In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the venerable SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) has more comets to its name than all other observers ... combined!
