Did any of you receive a message from the photographer of this image:
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap090624.html ?

I got a very annoying letter from him for having published his image at the German translation site. But since the German site is listed at "About APOD" in the third line ("Austria"), two laywers and also Robert and Jerry agreed that I have the right to publish all APOD-images without asking for further permission, because the permission was already given to the APOD main page.

I'd like to know if he bullied just me, or any of you, too.

Also that's right.

Thanks!

Wrong link on APOD Dec 29 – “Eclipse at Moonset”

by Joan Girones » Wed Dec 29, 2010 12:58 am

Just I case, despite APOD editors had been warned, take care about the link on geocentric.

There is a mistype: the wrong target is “ap0904171.html” and the right one is “ap090417.html”.

APOD Nov 19 - Nebulae in the Northern Cross

by Joan Girones » Fri Nov 19, 2010 9:24 am

The link of “Northern Coal Sack” doesn’t have any target:

<a href="">Northern Coal Sack</a>

Possibly the right one might be APOD October 23, 2003, “Cygnus Nebulosities”.

Wrong link on APOD Nov 4 – “Night Lights”

by Joan Girones » Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:01 pm

There is an error on the link of "first decade".

Is - http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/stati ... g/10years.

Could to be - http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/stati ... years.html

Oct 18 - It Came from the Sun

by Joan Girones » Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:29 pm

The title reminds a classic sci-fi movie: "It Came from Outer Space" (1953).

If do you like it, could be funny to include a link on the explanation like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErFsW4-FDWw

APOD Sep 30 - Coreshine from a Dark Cloud

APOD Sep 30 - Coreshine from a Dark Cloud

by Joan Girones » Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:46 am

Hello,

There is still a problem with the new, and still beta, Spitzer Space Telescope web site (http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/).

As a suggestion, you can use the following alternate links’ target:

“Spitzer Space Telescope” - http://legacy.spitzer.caltech.edu/index.shtml

“known as coreshine” - http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/spitz ... index.html

“scattering light”- http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA13409

Best regards.

APOD Sep 29 - An Airplane in Front of the Moon

by Joan Girones » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:32 pm

Hello,

On from http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/fap/ap100929.html, the link from "nerve of steel" returns the message “Image has expired, sorry. Please visit pixdaus.com and get new link” - http://pixdaus.com/pixdaus.png.

From my Catalan version draw still shows the right image: http://pixdaus.com/pics/z56dEGDRJUayBXb28R.jpg

Possibly it's because from http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/fap/ap100929.html had been clicked more times and there is some kind of limit on the clicks number.

Any feedback about this topic, posted on this discuss, will be welcomed.

Thanks.

About meta-tag "keywords"

by Joan Girones » Fri Sep 17, 2010 1:10 am

APOD uses the meta-tag “keywords”, as well some mirror sites, mainly those in English.

Google itself claims that its searcher practically ignores the meta "keywords".
Please, take a look to these videos from “Google Webmaster Help”:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jK7IPbnmvVU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_euoDRk1qN0

Other searchers act as the same way.

It may results interesting this brief text from a SEO consulting: http://www.highrankings.com/metakeyword

Certainly, and not only for Google, it's more important the meta-tag "description", but the main indexing criteria are:

- the “Title” tag

- the text page content itself

Despite it could seems a waste of time take attention of this meta-tag - even use it - it is not sure at all that all searchers ignore “keywords” meta-tag.

So, if do you use “keywords”, maybe is fine to remember its main three “old rules”; they are really old but I will use the present time:

A “keyword”:

- is case sensitive

- must to appear on the page text contain

- if they are more than one keyword, must to be separated by space and coma

As ever, any comment or controversy will be welcomed.
