I think it is an arched rock with a crack in the arch. The dark coat is the opening to the night sky on the other side. It is a cool illuson though. I would like to see a day time picture of the same area. Any out there? :?:

APOD August 8 Observation - Probably Nothing

Howdy, this is my first post... I was just curious if the August 8 APOD tricked anyone elses eyes into seeing the man in a coat pointing at Mars with a baton...??

Just thought it was a cool illusion. Thanks to all who contribute to APOD - I log on everyday to see the new pic, it makes amateur work-based star gazing so easy!!

Dan.
