The only time it fails is when the power goes out at the APOD server. It happened once in the last couple of years that I remember.

You're welcome, and welcome to Asterisk!

I am indeed. Thanks for your quick responses.

Now I can put this information into Task Scheduler so that my APOD wallpaper gets updated precisely at the right time. :-) 00:10 sounds like a good bet.

Yes, it is, though it might take a bit (couple of minutes, maybe) to propagate across servers. (I assume you're talking about the main APOD site and not a mirror.)

Thanks. Is it pretty reliably always midnight?

Midnight Eastern time (US East Coast).

APOD update time?

by Noldorin » Sat May 28, 2011 12:03 am

Hello folks,

I was just curious if anyone knew the time and time zone in which the APOD gets updated? For example, I might expect it to be 00:00 UTC - though I've no idea if this is actually correct.

(I could of course check this out myself, though it would involve some intensive trial and error, which I'm hoping to avoid.)

Many thanks.
