strings were presented
Strings were presented as a form of pure energy. First the bigger brains than me must determine the frequency of these vibrations and help the mere mortals here to accept this as science. Secondly, if there are multiple universes, you must be able to define the boundaries of these beasts. Gravity is...

string theory
this was discussed in a recent NOVA segment describing strings as a form of energy that supports multiple Universes. But it was also mentioned this cannot be proven physically, making it a philosophers science with no proof requirements, such as quantum physics requires. just because more people wat...

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap060610.html This is the kind of picture that would excite young star gazers to look up and begin recognizing the dots of light on a clear night. I hope the gods of Apod continue to share the larger pictures of the sky above us and annotate the " biggies "...

very suspicious this article suddenly appears in your home town newspaper on a subject you have been hammering for as long as I have been privileged to read your posts.

impossible to prove
you would have two timed events with sensors exactly one light minute apart talking to each other at the speed of light. Great topic for a Friday night discussion in a college dorm. Gravity is just a number, no units. this number changes as a function of distance, totally dependent upon the velocity...

speed of gravity
speed of gravity is an invention of the original poster, possibly due to having entirely too much time on his hands. However, it does provoke serious considerations. may I suggest a new unit to quantify this mistycal quantity ? Sg = X kilojoules / cubic parsec there, pass on the ice cold one :) :) :)

dust
You are making a very bold statement that stars are born out of dust. they are not. Planets are born out of the substance loosely named dust. I don't think the human race possesses the knowledge to predict where stars are born. There is something out there that collects hydrogen around a gravitation...

far away mature galaxies
Orin,
it is called relativity. What you see ain't what it is, remembering there is no location for the Big Bang. You can't go out in the backyard, grab a ice cold one, and point to a spot where the big one happened. Humans are incapable of thinking far from classical Newtonian physics .
