Actually, floating ice, when it melts, really should raise the sea level, albeit only slightly compared to non-floating ice melt. Sea water is more dense than fresh water, and ice is (primarily) composed of fresh water. As it melts, it dilutes the sea water, lowering its density. No? Or another way ...
