Sonar

Would love to learn more about Sonar. Since the Hall effect sensor converts a magnetic field into electrical form, and piezoelectric crystals convert pressure changes into electrical form, could that be put to work for a transducer? And is it Snell's law or Fermat's principle that governs light trav...

Well now I feel silly. I was just reading about circumhorizontal arcs and realized I had misunderstood where they can be seen. They cannot be seen in the polar regions! Still, this one is way too low.

Don't want to get too far away from NSL as the Topic, so I'm working on how to link Swallowtails that have LEDs in their wings to the night sky. Welllll...butterflies FLY in the sky...does that work? And a little ways up in the sky at 6D 15M North, 151D West, the pipes are twisted too tight & cl...

Stir this in to the recipe: Tunnel Ionization Tunnel ionization is ionization due to quantum tunneling. In classical ionization an electron must have enough energy to make it over the potential barrier, but quantum tunneling allows the electron simply to go through the potential barrier instead of g...

Broken Symmetry, of course
Reflex Klystron
Don't Forget Maxwell's Equations

Hey out there, thanks for the Scalar hint. (Just took a few hours).

Thanks for the Welcome, Craterchains, and for the links to the threads (which I'd already read!) and thanks especially for "seconding" my question!! Sure would appreciate any help in figuring out why in the world these arcs would appear anywhere besides the polar regions, where they belong.

Circumhorizontal Arc

For consideration as APOD. Taken in Blue Springs, Missouri on July 9 2007. Maybe NASA can also tell me why a cloud with ice particles was so low in the atmosphere on this hot summer day.

How to Submit Picture?

I just can't seem to figure out how to submit an image for APOD...I feel silly, I must be missing something pretty obvious! :?
