Re: APOD: Two Hemisphere Night Sky (2020 Feb 27)

Wow, this is absolutely stunning indeed. Zodiacal light as an almost perfect circle.... (and even 'my' telescope is on, as a few pixels  )
They should sell this as a poster....

Re: APOD: The Shark Nebula (2015 Sep 07)

Wheee. Took me a while to locate the area on the sky map, as there was no mention of the FOV and no really well-known object in

Really beautiful image, and even more remarkable if you follow the link to the authors page to find this is a +13h exposure...
Great work

Wow, this is really stunning. Not only aesthetically, but also technically. I really wonder how they did the initial panaorama (and especially the nadir shot) whithout disrupting the snow too much. Well done!

Hihi, really fun. Anyone read the linked older APOD spicules article from 2008? At least it looks as if since then spicules doubled their length....

Re: APOD: Teide Sky Trails (2010 Feb 12)

John: Starlight is possible (it's dark enough there to missjudge milky way for clouds and zodiacal light for urban skyglow), but could also be beginning dawn (the star image seems to be taken much later than the end of the trail images) l3p3r: Postprocessing for sure, the water effect is photoshoped...
