Re: APOD: Aurora Over Raufarhöfn (2012 Apr 30)

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: Less is more. The image would be more effective if it was not too large to fit on the screen of most monitors. I am puzzled as to why this strong image should inspire some to think of stoning transgressors, burning heretics, or slaying infidels/unbelievers - rather than it ...

Re: APOD: Fata Morgana: A Possibly Titanic Mirage (2012 Apr

And what was the "...the nearby vessel SS Californian" doing? She was lying-to on the edge of an ice flow, perhaps 15 miles away. She informed Titanic that she was stopped and surrounded by ice. She had previously told Titanic of three large bergs in the area. Titanic replied "Shut up...

Re: APOD: Shuttle Plume Shadow Points to the Moon (2011 Nov

...its shadow projected away from the Sun toward the opposite horizon, where the Full Moon just happened to be. "Just happened?" Indeed! Clearly it is an unequivocal mark of Divine Favor. Next APOD will be claiming that descent with modification also "just happened." Someday, so...

Re: APOD: Edge on NGC 3628 (2011 Nov 04)

This is a magnificent image from yesterday ...

NOW (GMT Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:44:25) is time for a magnificent image for today.

I guess that something most have gone awry in the APOD mothership?

Perspective.

Perspective: That one thing which I think most lacking, most needed, in my country today.

Remarkable image which leads to remarkable thoughts.

Visually Browse Archives

Nice it would be. Being able to do so in small chunks with thumbnails would keep the bandwidth requirements down. Simply having links on an archived page "Previous" "Next" would make it much easier to go from one archived image to another. Have much appreciation for this wonderfu...

Front yard surely: Road, Fireplug ...

Recorded from a residential backyard
I have always wanted to record an analemma - but have not had the self-discipline to be able to do so. Having started a New Year with a resolution that THIS would be the year, I once got as far as February.

Wonderful.
