Re: APOD: Otherworldly Planet Rise (2011 Apr 11)

Of course it has been digitally processed. It also says so at the bottom of the page that owlice posted http://barn.zenfolio.com/p1068266116/h3dd79de#h15b98baa I agree in spirit with the criticisms, they should just be clearly articulated. The prettiness of digital artwork is in the eye of the behol...

Re: APOD: Time Lapse Auroras Over Norway (2011 Mar 28)

Does anyone have any links to a good real time *not time-lapsed* video of an aurora? The time lapses are cool, I suppose, but if you only ever saw time lapse movies of clouds, or flowers, etc, wouldn't you feel like you were missing part of the picture? Re: APOD: Spacecrafts Streak Over Colorado (2011 Mar 14)

What on earth is the streak across the earth? Yeah, that's what I wanna know! You mean the red colored linear feature in the grass?? I think its just a trail made by humans walking consistently on that area killing the grass that would otherwise be there. "Perhaps small local variations in top...

Re: APOD: Night Lights (2010 Nov 04)

I hate to be a downer, but all that light is completely wasted, lights are supposed to be for people on the ground, not space. I wonder what the process is, does it all come down to some city council person getting sold on some cheap light fixtures, "Oh there are no glare blockers, oh well, sav...
