Re: APOD: MWC 922: The Red Square Nebula (2011 Mar 23)

This was posted on io9 just now... Why Is This Nebula So Perfectly Symmetrical? | io9 Intrigued, I went looking for more information ... except there is NO further information! NO other pictures (like from Hubble) and NO follow-up articles, etc. NO mention of this thing past mid-April, 2007, except ...

Re: APOD: A Space Shuttle on the Streets of... (2012 Oct 22)

I do hope that this is the last APOD post on the SST. How did we, as a nation, delude ourselves into accepting, continuing, and now glorifying a transportation system that operated with a 1.5% hull-loss rate? Why haven't we call it out for what it was: an abject failure of design and vision that tw...

Re: APOD: A Space Shuttle Over Los Angeles (2012 Sep 26)

I'm curious why the Shuttle program was a boondoggle, and what would have been a better way to spend NASA's money? Ballistic capsules like Apollo and the planned Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle? More robotic missions? The Shuttle mission that corrected the Hubble Space Telescope's astigmatism was ...

Re: APOD: A Space Shuttle Over Los Angeles (2012 Sep 26)

I just can't help wondering. The 747 seems to not have its flaps extended at all. That would indicate a much higher speed than that of approaching planes. Flying at such speed at an altitude of less than 50m would cause considerable disturbances to cars and especially unsuspecting pedestrians. Ther...

Ray and husband Charles, the film's creators, were known as quite visionary spirits and even invented their own popular chair.
I believe their more iconic chair is the Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman, which is seen in pretty much every classy abode in movies & TV.
