The total number that we 'could' observe is thought to be around 10^11 (1 followed by 11 zeros! or 100 billion in common terms). Plenty of inspiration as they come in a variety of shapes and sizes!

Interferometers michelson v fizeau
Hello Guys, first post so please forgive any breaches of etiquette! I was wondering on the difference between a michelson type interferometer and a fizeau type. Not many books go to the trouble of really comparing them or considering them for the same task even... and this makes trying to figure out...
