This picture has been posted at least three times and each time been discreditied - I'm amazed that it is still in the archives! Surely there are more recent/better ones to post! The answer that the light comes from more than just cities is of course correct; but bush fires in the Great Sandy Desert...

owlice - that first link are for the highly populated, and wooded east coast. Your second link is for the tropical area of Northern Territory - while sparcely populated it is certainly very lush country up there!! The "fires" in the middle of West Australia are in the Great Sandy Desert, L...
