Re: APOD: Orion Over and Under Tibet (2015 Oct 05)

Hey Jeff, I'm not sure what's up with your link but first, this is a public forum so anyone can see your link and password. Second, I can't download it. It might be blocked from users outside of China, not sure. You could just post a JPEG if you want, I don't think people need the real RAW file, th...

Re: APOD: Orion Over and Under Tibet (2015 Oct 05)

Dear all, The photo below is the RAW image without any cooking, I used a modified DSLR and the light pollution filter to increase the nebulosity contrast. Photo processing of this photo is challenging, it took me a longtime to bridle this rebellious colors. http://ww1.sinaimg.cn/mw1024/74a64f93gw1ex...

Re: APOD: Orion Over and Under Tibet (2015 Oct 05)

Hi, Yes the best way is sending RAW to all, But it's a pity that i'am traveling at Tibet now, i can't offer at this moment. For the startrails in the water. As you know Orion always comes up sideways(azimuth is close to 90 degree). That means the left in the water is nearly vertical and right is sla...

Re: APOD: Orion Over and Under Tibet (2015 Oct 05)

Thank you for the technical data. On a french astro forum we discussed also if it is realy a single exposure (and if you used an EOS 6D or a Sony Alpha 7s with a greatest gain). Your answer is clear about that. I have a Ioptron Skytracker too. For such a picture with both sky objets and landscape, ...

Re: APOD: Orion Over and Under Tibet (2015 Oct 05)

Photo Details: Camera: Canon EOS 6D DSLR (Astro modified); Lens: Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC lens; Equatorial mount: iOptron Skytracker ...

Re: APOD: Orion Over and Under Tibet (2015 Oct 05)

What a wonderful picture! Look how the lake not only reflects the stars and the nebulas but also enhances their colors. The Orion Nebula is two-colored in the watery reflection, white and a deep, saturated rose color. Betelgeuse is glowing like an ember and seems to be involved in some nebulosity t...

Re: APOD: Geminid Meteor Shower over Dashanbao... (2013 Dec

Hehe, hi Jeff! Geminid watching: I just stood at the second story east window of my house and stared at Jupiter for half an hour just to find out if I could spot Geminids under horrible conditions. I live in Queens, NYC, the sky is covered in cirrus, and there are orange street lamps I was able to ...

Ok, this is the second point that I wanted to say this morning. The discussion link to the place where today’s image was recorded; the " Dashanbao Wetlands in central China." shows an equally impressive night sky shot from about the same location on the TWAN website. TWAN photographers ar...
