Re: APOD: Planets of the Solar System: Tilts... (2022 Sep 11)

Could we guess Venus so slowed because it is internally liquid and has strong tidal forces from the Sun ?
Mercury must not be liquid as it is small.

That would be one possibility. Gravitational radiation is another.
Oh yes ! Thx for info.

Re: APOD: CMB Dipole: Speeding Through the... (2022 Apr 03)

I have calculated that for 2 spheres with same apparent diameter (Sun, Moon...), the ratio of their tidal effect is equal of the ratio of their density. That works well with Sun and Moon ;-) It implies also that if you hold at the end of your arm a small sphere with the density of the moon and if th...

Re: APOD: CMB Dipole: Speeding Through the... (2022 Apr 03)

Unfortunately, however, that's an incorrect answer. Not something Art often provided. You mean the answer about the tidal bulges? So does this have the correct answer?: The gravitational attraction between the Earth and the moon is strongest on the side of the Earth that happens to be facing the mo...

Re: APOD: CMB Dipole: Speeding Through the... (2022 Apr 03)

So it exist an abolute motion referential in the Universe. 2 observers anywhere in the universe and with no shift/CMB are not moving one to another. No. The CMB is the edge of the observable universe, not the the entire universe. Two different observers in the Universe each have their own observabl...

This picture is wrong as the ship will have at this moment of the descent only 4 of its 8 motors working (the external ones) in order to avoid burning the rover.
