Well hieroglyphic languages had grammar rules as well but I have to point out you left out the period at the end of your post! 😼

Re: APOD: The Red Planet Mars (2020 Jul 30)

As Mars lacks any significant amount of water, and Mars has no magnetic field to deflect cosmic rays, would anyone care to take a stab at guessing the total human population of Mars: say one century from now? Mars actually has significant amounts of water, most of it is underground though a large a...

Re: APOD: The Red Planet Mars (2020 Jul 30)

I worry this latest dust storm is going to ruin the view like at the last opposition. All I ever got to see was the brilliant ice cap. That was great and always a thrill but I keep thinking of what I missed. Please o God of War keep your skies clear this time so I may gaze at your blood red beauty!!...

Re: APOD: The Giants of Summer (2020 Jul 29)

Jupiter is a whopping 47.3 arc seconds in diameter right now, not too far away from someone with fighter pilot eyesight to make out as a disc! It was an even bigger 47.6 just days ago at opposition. And if you have a really big scope Pluto is only a degree and a half away from Jupiter roughly toward...

Re: APOD: Iron in the Butterfly Nebula (2020 Jul 21)

Stunning piece of art and science! This sharp close-up was recorded by the Hubble Space Telescope and is reprocessed here to show off the remarkable details of the complex planetary nebula, highlighting in particular light emitted by iron, shown in red. I wonder just how much iron is in that nebula....

Re: APOD: Comet NEOWISE and Nebulae (2020 Jul 20)

Beautiful image, the foreground really makes it. It resembles an impressionist work. The only thing I don’t care for is the exaggerated color on the nebula, it looks unnatural and is distracting. Actually I think cutting off the right third would make a stronger composition. Sorry just the illustrat...

Re: APOD: Finding NEOWISE (2020 Jul 18)

Very nice photo. I like how natural it looks, no garish tacked on out of scale foreground. The grain is nice too, reminds me of the shots in “Astronomy” and “Sky and Telescope” in the 70’s and 80’s.

Re: APOD: Comet NEOWISE over Lebanon (2020 Jul 07)

Has anyone been able to see this comet with your own eyes yet? Saw it very easily this morning. Didn't need to start with binoculars or even know where to look. At 4am in the northeast it was glaringly obvious- a bright star with a long tail. By 4:30, against a lighter sky, it was even more apparen...

Re: APOD: Mercury's Sodium Tail (2020 Jul 08)

Cool shot but I get annoyed when they talk about Mercury’s atmosphere. It’s actually more accurately termed an exosphere. It’s just a bunch of stray atoms flying around that aren’t even a gas because they never collide with one another. Other than that Mercury is a fascinating planet. It’s a bitter ...
