Re: Submissions: 2021 April
The Sunflower Galaxy. KG Observatory, Julian, CA. Fortunately the good weather held out for a few more days to squeeze out one more object during the April dark cycle. (-: The fog and rain returned last night. The challenge here was to expose the very faint tidal streams without overexposing the gal...

Starburst Galaxy IC10. KG Observatory, Julian, CA My second project with the new ZWO ASI6200M Pro – this time with 2x2 binning for smaller sub size (30 MB vs 120 MB) and higher SNR. The 2X loss of resolutions is not really noticeable. (-: Camera gain was fixed at 100 with 60s Luminance subs and 300...

The Perseus Cluster of Galaxies. KG Observatory, Julian CA. We had a very heavy rain on November 8th with 60 mph winds. This finally cleared into an unusually transparent and steady sky. FWHM on the 15-minute Luminance subs was between 1.4" and 2.1". Perfect conditions for shooting tiny d...

VdB 47 (SH2-243?) KG Observatory, Julian CA. I started collecting color for this faint reflection nebula during a few December nights of decent seeing. I was then lucky to see some clearings during January for the Luminance. "VdB 47 is a reflection nebula associated with a visible emission in t...

The UFO Galaxy. KG Observatory, Julian CA. December and January skies haven't been great this year – mostly overcast and unsteady. Fortunately I found a few steady clearings to capture this UFO Galaxy (NGC 2683) which was well-positioned from 9 PM to 5 AM. "NGC 2683 is a field spiral galaxy dis...

Arp 273 - The Cosmic Rose
At a distance of 300 million light years, this Cosmic Rose was positioned well for 8 hours each evening. I was able to collect lots of subs and discard anything over 2" FWHM. (-:

Re: Submissions: 2020 October
Wow, George, I love it! This may the first time I've seen a good RGB image of this galaxy, which caught my interest many years ago when I saw it as a UBV image in James D Wray's Color Atlas of Galaxies . Hubble beat you when it came to resolution, but you sure beat Hubble when it comes to bringing ...

That's a superb image! Thank you! :D Ann Thank you Ann! I just updated it with a new version that replaces Pixinsight's Photometric Color Calibration with a more traditional Color Calibration using the bright area of IC10 as a white balance. For this particular object, I believe this technique help...

Wow, George, that's fantastic!!! Tell me, what filters did you use for your image? A hydrogen alpha one? I noticed that your "pink splotches" are seen in other places in NGC 7320 and NGC 7318 A and B than in the Hubble picture. Anyway, that is indeed an amazing image!!! Ann Thank ...
