I'm not absolutely sure I got the point of this discussion

sputnick was the id of a former member who was banned for failure to abide by the rules of the forum. He was allowed to rejoin another a new id aristarchusinexile (probably a mistake, my bad) and was again banned for failing to observe the rules. Since that time he has reappeared under many assumed personae and sent away, again. This thread was started by me as a warning to regular posters that he was back. oldnewideas was just his latest incarnation. If you really cared to follow his checkered past, makc could probably provide you with searches that reveal all his former posts under various ids. It is a good example of what is not acceptable behavior.
