Welcome to Starship Asterisk*, Franceso! This cloud captures the viewer’s attention for its remarkable shape, while showing examples of dark absorption nebula, bright reflection nebula, and extended red emission nebula.
For this image I integrated 19 sub-exposures, each 480 second long, via a 65 mm f/6.5 apochromatic quadruplet astrograph, with a Nikon D5500 DSLR (modified to let H-alpha radiation reach the sensor) from a dark site (SQM 21.7 mag/arcsec2). Each sub-exposure was calibrated with bias frames, dark frames and flat frames, and the 19 sub-exposures were stacked together. The stack was then processed using PixInsight and StarNet++.
