This dramatic image, captured by Astronomy Now's Nick Howes earlier today of Comet C2007 Q3 Siding Spring, suggests that the comet's nucleus might be disintegrating.

Re: AstNow: Is Comet Siding Spring splitting up?
Dr Nemiroff,
Within the hour I will be starting a two-hr imaging session on Comet C2007/Q3 Siding Spring (LRGB @ 30:30:30:30). The comet is quite a mover with an apparent motion of 1"/minute and which translates to one-minute exposures at my end due to my 1.17"/pixel image scale.
As always, weather-permitting.
Anthony.
