First Picture Taken From Space

If this picture isn't already somewhere in the Asterisk*, it is now.

Things seemed to have improved considerably since 1946.

That is interesting Beyond. I was curious about the story behind the picture so I hope you don't mind if I add on to your post. I might have thought that the first picture may have originated from orbit. Fascinating that "space" is a little arbitrary.

I don't mind at all, Ron. I found this picture amongst a whole bunch of assorted old pictures and didn't remember seeing it in the Asterisk* anywhere.
Unfortunately, for me, the videos you added don't play. The white circles just go round and round and round and round and.... nothing else happens.

Yes. I was first excited to find them then bummed that they wouldn't play. Maybe someone can find them on You Tube

Great story and great pictures, Beyond and Ron! Ron, your first videos played just fine for me, but I thought the yuotube video was better.

Amazing to think that this was the first time people could really see that the Earth was curved and not flat!

I just tried the first videos again, Ann and they still wouldn't play for me. I guess they only like color commentators. :lol2:

Right, those black-and-white little videos got scared out of their black-and-white little heads when the mighty Color Commentator looked sternly at them!
