the same thing including the text,contributors,and storyline
but why are the pictures different?
please tell me (us) how the photo was enhanced to sharpen image, I love apod and see the changing repeat photos often.
I also like Gendlers work has he or another person worked to clarify this old photo ?

I must agree with you on this, the newer image looks darker and less refined that the earlier image would indicate.

What's peculiar indeed is that the old APOD image links to a larger version which is identical to the newer APOD image (ie. darker). It might be something that happened when they shrank the image down for display on the original APOD page?

I seems they just ajusted the light content and contrast.

I like the latest. Better contrast.

I do that to my images.
