Re: How’s your day?
No rain coming in here; still have holes to fix, though!
Today is a good day. The semester is over! I'd had so little sleep and was so tired while driving to work yesterday, I felt sick. I ended up parking en route for a 2.5-hour nap! I awoke several times, once to find a tai chi class being held in the parking lot (I was in a park) behind my car, another time to an alarm I'd set, but fell immediately back to sleep. I eventually noticed traffic had completely cleared, so checked the time, and .... oh my! Decided I'd best get moving!!
I'm a little more rested now than I was at this time yesterday.

Today is a beautiful day. We don't get too many of those at this time of year. It may reach 50 yet. So my day is going good. The weather man predicts 0 temperatures for Sunday morning so It will be back to Brrrrrr!

Re: How’s your day?
My day is good! I might still wish it were a little warmer and that I could get in a bike ride, but it looks as though tomorrow might be a good riding day, so that makes me happy. I listened to a couple of my favorite works this morning, and still have a melody from one of them playing on the radio in my head.

Re: How’s your day?
Last Tuesday my car wouldn't start. I think it's the starter solenoid, not sure yet. Had to have the car towed. My wife and I work opposite shifts so I thought, heh, we'll be ok until this problem is resolved.
The next evening my wife got a flat in the other car.
Later that evening we decided to try and forget the car problems and relax with a with a movie. The DVD player died.

Re: How’s your day?
Sounds like the beginning of my year
Jan 2. Got back from shopping to discover the Hot Water inlet to the Dishwasher has come uncoupled and is spewing water all over the kitchen, living room, laundry room, and hall.
Jan 3. Insurance co sends over a Clean Up Crew to dry the house. They tear up all the Laminate Flooring that I personally spent over 60 hours installing, Drill holes in the kitchen walls through the Wall Paper I installed there. Make it so I can't cook in the kitchen. Left at 3:30 to get early dinner out. Got bit in the Groin by the neighbors dog. Shaved my self off and cleaned myself up and went to get dinner shortly after 4. Clean up crew left at 6 (machinery whirring away for 4 days and nights) Went to emergency room back home at 8:30
Jan 4. 3am My wife awakens with a toothache. To the dentist that morning. She will need a Root Canal
Jan 5. To the endodontist for a Root Canal. Will need to go back to the Dentist for a Crown later.

Re: How’s your day?
I haven’t had anything but rewarding times over the holidays with my family. I did gain a few pounds… my willpower tends to go down at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Thankfully my teeth, house and cars are functioning properly. House and car problems are worse when the weather is cold.
Still waffling over a bike… cold weather is helping with that.

Re: How’s your day?
BMAONE23, yikes!! I hope the year improves greatly for you!!!
Orca, maybe you need to switch to bikes and books!
Ed! It's possible to ride in the cold! I'm heading out in a few minutes for a ride, in fact, since we seem to have reached our high for the day (37°F).
I can generally ride down to about 32°, or even 30° if there's no wind; I could ride in colder weather if I had a suitable coat, but I don't, so I don't. (Maybe after I'm done paying for college tuition, I can justify buying a biking coat! And a new bike, for that matter.) I just layer up. After a couple of miles, three at the most, I'm warm and stay warm so long as I keep riding. There are advantages to riding in cold weather, such as not becoming human fly paper by having bugs stick to one's sweaty face. Also, the trails are less crowded (but for even less crowded trails, ride in the cold after dark -- I often see no one for some miles on such rides), and getting sunburned and/or overheated is usually not a concern.
Maybe you can borrow a bike from someone to try it out for a bit? It's fun, you know!
My day has been pretty lazy so far, so I have to get laundry in and then get in a ride. After that, I'll make something to take to a potluck/games night at a friend's. A good day, in other words!

Re: How’s your day?
Books are always fine advice. In fact I just finished re-reading Dune. Man I love that book, it is one of my favorites. I haven't read it since I was a teenager, I'd forgotten just how good it is (and how much better it is than the movie).
I'd love to be able to ride a bike to my various destinations, they are just too far away and require highway miles. Supposedly Portland is pretty good on the whole for bicycle riders; though to my untrained eyes it appears that there are a large number of disconnected zones safe for bikes. It's pretty hard to retrofit infrastructure to support bike travel when it was never designed for it..

Re: How’s your day?
Orca, I'm sure there are local bike groups that can provide advice on getting places by bike in Portland. Someone tooling around the DC area on a bike for day-to-day stuff probably can't avoid road biking entirely, but there are lots of places that are nicely accessible by bike trail. I have to drive -- or rather, I do not bike -- to the trailhead of the nearest trail to me, but once there, I can get a surprising number of places almost entirely by trail, including downtown DC.
I've never read Dune; probably should!

I appreciate you guys. I’m a little slow but sometimes grasp the obvious. I'm sorry if I caused concern.
I’m also a bit lazy today. I could be working but my incentive driver is being overridden by my relaxation buffer.

My wife says that I like lazy days too much!
She’s not bossy, she just knows what I should be doing!
Today I’m looking forward to gaining a little more personal effort towards putting her knowledge into practice.

The day was great! Snapping some photos of my daughter and new son-in-law at 11,000 ft after official pics, their trip down Mammoth Mountain was hand in hand.
Minarets produced a colorful sun.
Banded like her finger.
If you pick a wedding photographer, might as well go with one with a love of the sky. Can’t wait to see his images of their night.

Hi, this is my first post here.
My day has been okay so far, on the weekend the sky view from camp was really nice. I hope that my camp in early December will have even darker places with even better views.

It's been fine, as usual. Just did some moon research, because I like moons, and read things. How about any of you?
