Kind of excited by this one because after a lot of searching I haven't found this object processed quite like this.

I was late to the main event, but still able to capture in a hurry the beauty of the moment with this single shot taken with a simple grab-and-go camera and a small tripod, through hazy clouds.

Ignacio

I am speechless with the dramatic change I saw of the recent Nova in the constellation of Delphinus.
In just 20 days the Nova turned from a bright blue color to an intense red/pink. It's magnitude dropped
considerably as well. Its one of the things you don't see everyday.

Its a fine example of what the great philosopher Heraclitus once said :

"There is nothing permanent except change."

Keeping us safe, Double Island point lighthouse and the Milky Way
Double Island Point Lighthouse and the arching Milky Way Galaxy.
Taken 03/08/2013 6:45pm'ish - Nikon D800, 14mm, F2.8, 30 Seconds, ISO3200. 6 shop panorama.
It was a planned trip just to take night photos. Lugged all my photo gear up the top and shot for about four hours, alone, in the dark.

From wikipedia some interesting details of the lighthouse:
"In 1884 a lighthouse was built on the point. It is a timber with metal cladding construction, like many lighthouses in Queensland, made that way because it is cheaper than masonry, but also better suited for soft sandy soils. It was planned for only halfway up the point, but then it was realized the light wouldn't be visible to the north and so the tower was built on top of the point. The lantern was initially burning oil, then in 1923 vaporized kerosene was introduced. Later it was converted to electric power. In 1992 it was converted to solar power and demanned. The light characteristic is a single flash every 7.5 seconds, the focal plane is located 96 metres above sea level."

Pointing to the sky
A four shot vertical panorama taken at Wongi Water Hole, Queensland Australia.
I can't say much about it, It's just pretty. Foreground and mid-ground (trees) were torch lit - the trees are exceptionally white.
Nikon D800, 14mm, F2.8, 30 Seconds, ISO6400. 4 shop panorama.
