Here’s an overview of the sky from site of first astronomical observatory log handcrafted known with retractable roof. Named as Horizon of Frontiers Observatory due to its geographical proximity in the southern Quebec Canada and Maine State USA and it's use for stargazing such as being final frontier. The observatory benefits the fact of being facing a large forest area in State of Maine for the quality of the night sky. Larger image

Zodiacal sky-o-meter
The first evening of March brought beautiful clear sky and a chance to see the zodiacal light. At the hills of Bakony, near the village Hárskút, Hungary, I could find a dark sky location with a good view to the western sky. I took some pics, the one I submit is a panoramic image of 24 photoes. The panorama projection with the half circle reminded me to a special sky-o-meter which shows the darkness of the location with the zodiacal light, as an indicator and the arc of the Milky Way as a scale.

Not often imaged, but spectacular open cluster M47.
I got kind of fed up by all these colour nebulae. Sometimes it is relaxing to focus on the simple and normally overlooked object.

Re: Submissions: 2014 March
A while back I made images of M81/M82 and combined those with images of Michael Van Doorn. This image asked for more detail and I wanted to try to show these two galaxies in their full glory. I found a great image of Neil Fleming and after contact with him we decided to combine our imagery in one new image. This increased the detail in the IFN significantly and also the galaxies showed up very nicely. I think this is the deepest image of this region that I have seen until now...

The Puszta at Night
Copyright: György Soponyai
The last night was an ideal one for some wide field astrophotography. The New Moon, the crystal-clear skies and the moderate light pollution led me out to this well near Kiskörös at the border of Kiskunság National Park. This kind of old draw well is the symbol of the Hungarian Plain, the Puszta.

Copyright: Göran Strand On Thursday 27 of February we had a fantastic aurora here in Östersund with lots of red colors. I took the opportunity to make my biggest panoramic image so far. The image below consists of 23 separate images with a 360 degree coverage from the horizon and all the way up to zenith. The original image has a resolution of 25,000 x 14,000 pixels at 300 dpi and with a 16 bit color depth.
