Yes, though it is mildly amusing, I think it's about time to pull the plug.

Why did I just hear Ma & Pa Kettle while I was reading that, Bruce? I suppose a bot could find and review those old movies, but they'd likely make it insane. Come to think of it, they may have made some humans insane too.

Maybe it was a bad tactic, but I'm attempting to illicit a response from acap that can settle the question of he/she/it being a real person or not.

No. Intelligent people have been engaging acap in deep discussion, and yet one of the moderators has raised the possibility that acap is not a person, and to the point of possibly 'pulling the plug.' So either acap is a human or its an it. My strong suspicion is that acap is a real person. It would be good for her or him to lay such doubts to rest.

The fact that acap seems to respond to my own posts with total bewilderment would support that idea.

It doesn't really respond to anything in particular, though. It just kind of darts around. My suspicion is that it's some kind of neural network type simulation with some physics and philosophy text coming from either books or other forums or something like that.

That was precisely my point, Rob(ot?).

A bot would not recognize my responses as being somewhat crazy & incomprehensible and would respond as it does to anyone else.

Another oddly vague response to nothing in particular, even though the accusations are quite clear and targeted at it.

Hi, Anil,

The powers that be are always a little nervous about newbies who begin by spouting off non standard concepts. Most of us struggle to get our minds around the flood of new concepts coming from professional astronomers. What got you interested in astronomy?

I got into this from my childhood. I am 54 years old and have been reading on astrophysics and take it as a hobby. I am a Civil Engineer by profession and work as a consultant. So maths & science interests me.

It's not the non-standard concepts that bother me, it's the non-standard way of replying. It's also that there are definitely many bots visiting the forum, and that they are getting more and more sophisticated. There is an overlap in the way a bot behaves and the way a human with English second (or third, or fourth, etc) language behaves. If I can't tell, then I have to ask in a way that a bot would probably not understand and not be able to accidentally answer correctly (not a simple yes/no question) but a human should be able to.

So yeah, you can attribute it to something simple like nervousness if you'd like, but there is a lot more to it than that. I wouldn't call it nervousness at all.

I would like to know more what exactly mathematics / physics say about singularities here.
"You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There's uh, singularity-kabobs, singularity creole, singularity gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple singularities, lemon singularities, coconut singularities, pepper singularities, singularity soup, singularity stew, singularity salad, singularities and potatoes, singularity burger, singularity sandwich..."

J Krishnamurthy spoke of complete attention - a state in which there is no gap between the observer and the observed. The quality of attention is so complete that there is no gap between the observed & the observed. The observed is equal to the observe! This wipes out differences, conflict etc and brings in love, compassion etc.
Can we talk of such state a sort of singularity?

By practicing Yoga people try to stop the mind from thinking but it is impossible. The goal of life is not to become unconscious but to become super-conscious.
