The Comet, the Bear and the Gorge!
The day before yesterday I've managed to make an image I've been anticipating for quite some time now at the gorge of Vikos which according to the Guinness records book is the deepest on the planet if you measure the analogy of the width to the depth.
I was thinking to artistically re-name the comet to VikoWise since the appearance right at the centre of the gorge appeared to be a cosmic alignment or as if the Earth ripped itself anticipating this magnificent comet from the sky. The comet still appears big and bright in the sky but the Moon will definitely cover much of it's tail the upcoming days. The timing was very important for this image to be able and happen since the 20.2% crescent moon was bright enough to lit the gorge and provide perfect lighting but also not too bright to hide the beautiful comet's tail!
So we have a Giant from the sky that meets the deepest gorge on our planet in a unique and remarkable view. For your info, the Vikos gorge is found in North-Western Greece near the city of Ioannina and it's a very famous touristic destination but only in the daytime. I had to stay there almost for the full night and withstand 75km/h winds plus some wildlife nearby like bears, wolfs, and jackals.
I have been imaging the comet almost on every opportunity until two nights ago and now I believe the moon will hide the tail for some time. Hopefully once the new moon comes, we will be able and have a good view of this magnificent astronomical object!

The Devil's Den - Wiltshire - UK
A rarely visited and photographed 5,000 year old Neolithic passage grave, in-between Avebury Stone Circle and Stonehenge.
The burial chamber stands upon a low mound that was originally part of a long barrow and is extremely difficult to find, sitting within the middle of a stretch of fields with no near by road access. The head stone is believed to weigh between 17 and 18 metric tonnes. I believe this to be one of a handful of night photo's of the site.
According to local tradition “if water is poured into the hollows on the capstone, a demon will come along in the night and drink it.” - it had been raining all day and I didn't hang round to find out

This is definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the area, although I strongly recommend a day time visit, ideally with a compass and ordnance map, it's located just outside a small village called Fyfield near Avebury Stone Circle. Be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk through overgrown fields.

It is situated approximately 5,200 light-years from Earth with an apparent magnitude of 6.3.
Complex nebula composed of an emission nebula (the bottom, red, a reflection nebula (the top, blue) and a dark nebula (apparent "gaps" in the emission nebula, which cause the trifurcarda appearance, these are also designated as Barnard 85).

Until the last few nights, the scattered sunlight from the dust in the coma largely overwhelmed any cyanogen glow. As the comet pulls away from the Sun, however, that glow is now dominating the coma.
This is a 21 arcmin wide field. Shot with a QSI660 on an RC10. 15 x 60s R, 15 x 60s G, 15 x 60s B.
