What a cool APOD! Oh to be able to see the Big Picture up close and personal!
But what are the green and blue blobs, just below and to the left of the near 'vertical' lenticular/edge on spiral in the upper left quadrant?
Also, there's a blue blob just above the centre - is it an irregular galaxy?
blue and green spots? (APOD 11 Oct 2006)

Ithink they are also spirals; but I can't magnify enough to tell for sure.

APOD featured the same region, at a larger scale, on 16 March 2005.
I can't see the green and blue objects in that APOD.
Maybe Quest caught an asteroid (assuming the region was imaged separately through at least blue and green filters)?

The blue 'streak' to the right and above center is a distant galaxy, by the looks of it. The blue and green blobs over to the left, I think, are also background galaxies... all three are -very- faintly visible in that second image that Nereid posted.
No idea why they're weird colours like that. Probably something to do with how the image was processed.

Don't just stand there, get that other dog!
