After spending a weekend playing with the raw frames, I ended up with this timelapse video of the Total Solar Eclipse 13/14 Nov 2012 which shows almost all the sequence. Please allow HD or Full HD versions to enjoy all the details of the timelapse. I hope you like it:

Like many others me and my Slovak friend decided to go out of cloudy forests around Cairns to see this spectacular solar eclipse. We stopped around 40 kilometres north-west from Mount Carbine at 3 o'clock and waited for sunrise. More than 100 cars went around us, so many of people, who sent so beautiful images here or on Spaceweather had to see us. The image shows three moments of totality in two point of view. For wide-angle images I used Canon 450D, Samyang 8 mm with f3,5. Detailed views are made by Canon 550D, MTO 500 mm/10. Unfortunately I was making a video tape, so I don't have any photo of totality. So I decided to make images from the video. I used always 7 frames (Canon HD video has 25 frames per second in resolution 1920x1080 px), for each of it I set another gama and stacked to HDR. And viola - this is the result. I wish you all could see it. So I bring at least this image to show, how amazing it was. But still - the view through my binoculars was more than 100 times better than this. Such a beautiful 2-minutes long moment...

Here's a video I shot with my iPhone from Green Island, a few miles offshore from Cairns. Observe how clear the Moon's shadow is as it sweeps overhead.

UMBRA WORLD
Early in the morning of November 14, 2012, the resort island of Green Island, Australia fell dark as moon's umbral shadow drifted across its spectacular scenery. Thousands of excited sky watchers and photographers from around the world gathered to experience this remarkable celestial event. This unique image was created from 8 separate images shot as a 360-degree panorama and then wrapped around itself to produce the first-ever "little planet" view of a total solar eclipse. Above the eclipse shines the planet Venus; on the other side of the scene--behind the trees--appears the bright star Sirius. © Dennis Mammana/dennismammana.com

DUSK AT DAWN
Not long after sunrise on November 14, 2012, excited sky watchers on Australia's Green Island gathered on a large piece of driftwood for a front-row seat of Nature's greatest celestial spectacle--a total eclipse of the sun. The dark moon's umbral shadow shaded the island in a weird dusk shortly after dawn, and appears skewed in the sky as it falls obliquely onto the atmosphere from above. Near the top of the frame appears the bright planet Venus. © Dennis Mammana/dennismammana.com
