Num num num, squirrel for dinner and comes with wine…

It’s been so cold lately... I thought this thread was going to be about a frozen Owlice. I’m relieved and glad to learn that Owlice isn’t frozen.

I actually broke open my last pumpkin for the squirrels to eat. I did this just before it became cold and the pumpkin isn't fermented. They ate quite a bit of it already. The birds are pecking on it too. The squirrels love my yard and sometimes you can hear them running over the roof. When I'm out in the yard with Sassy; the squirrels like to peak around trees and watch. I can get really close at times; but I don't try to touch them. :D

i might be frozen. It's cold out there! I finally had to resort to my winter coat; too bad I didn't wash it sooner than I did, as I can't put it in the dryer. It was almost but not entirely dry when I put it on this morning.

emc, have you eaten squirrel? (And if so, are they really worth having wine with, or does the wine just make it easier to eat squirrel?)

orin, cute video; thanks! I sometimes hear the pitter-patter of little squirrel feet above me, too; they aren't on my roof, however, but rather, in my attic. I am not enthusiastic about their presence there, especially during mating season!

I was hoping to inspire y'all (or you[se] guys if you prefer) to post what you're eating.... ! I'm now out of pumpkin bread; also out of sandwich bread. I'll have to make that tomorrow night: whole wheat/oatmeal/honey bread. Yum!

Hi Owlice,
One of my first hunting trips I bagged a squirrel so my Grandmother made squirrel dumplings. I remember the dumplings were good but the meat wasn’t all that tasty… chicken is better. I was too young to have wine… probably would have helped though. Lately, I’ve been eating too much. I had salad, pork roast with gravy, baked potato and a brownie for dinner. I leave the squirrels alone now except to run them off our bird feeders from time to time. My dog gets a kick out of watching me... he's crazy for squirrels.

Time in the kitchen yesterday paid off; I needed to take a sweet something to last night's caroling party, so baked a chocolate cake and brownies. Since I was already in the kitchen, I also made a loaf of the afore-mentioned whole wheat-honey-oatmeal bread and a crockpot of chili. Came home with some of the cake and brownies, the latter of which went to exH1's house. Now I need to make cornbread to go with the chili and then I'm set for days.

(I like nuts in brownies, or brownies without nuts; doesn't matter to me! But I never put nuts in these brownies.)

<<The celebration of Festivus begins with the "Airing of Grievances," which takes place immediately after the Festivus dinner has been served. It consists of lashing out at others and the world about how one has been disappointed in the past year.
