This is how our little lady signals that she wants her tummy to be stroked - she comes onto my bed first thing and it is my first task of the day :D

Sometimes I manage to look at the Apod on my tablet at the same time, but Elvira is becoming very imperious as she grows up, and expresses displeasure at not having my undivided attention...

Aaaahhh! Elvira wants to have her tummy stroked! Not all cats like that, that's for sure! :kitty: :D

No, they don't. According to one book on cats that I read when our first cat, Enoch, came into our lives, they said that if a cat permitted its tummy to be touched then that was an indication of the deepest trust. So I feel very privileged that Elvira actually WANTS me to stroke her there. And understand that she needs me to do it with total attention.

I must say, she is really rather a splendid addition to our family.

Defensive little creature. I'm not sure it utters more than two words. The other one would be the mating call.
Sooo..... stop, stop, stop, and go! Go! Go! are it, hmmm?

Now I look at her picture again, I can see what you see, Moon lady! She certainly has EVERYONE saying what bee-yoo-ti-fool little cat she is :D But I am her mummy-substitute, so just see my little kitten :!:
(Actually, that photo was of her when she is alone with me - there is ABSOLUTELY no question of her being like that if anyone else is in the room, even Paul). And she is quite stand-off-ish with visitors.

Oh dear - I really am besotted, aren't I? All my hard-nosed street cred is fading fast

This was the first time that I'd seen Sam allowing Elvira to sleep up close to him. He has been tolerant of her, but has not permitted familiarity - after all, he is an elderly gentleman of nearly Eleven Years, and she is barely Seven months old... But she is winning him round :D

And she has a perfectly black little nose! Sam's pads and nose are pink - his nose looks as tho he has a cold in this photo - but he has probably had a bit of a "disagreement" with another male cat.
And can you see the black mark on Sam's forehead? It is OIL that he had picked up from somewhere. He gets himself very grubby as he explores EVERYWHERE :!:

I'd have to say only 1 in 100,000 planets with intelligent life can do what's on that video. It is that amazing. All fauna can be our pet so to speak, if we chose, so we had better love and be at peace with what is left on Earth that still lives or we'll forever lose that specialness of what I believe to be a very unique "goldy-locks" planet we're in charge of. Honestly can you really imagine another planet with as many different kinds of beautiful animals n plants as our Earth has? Especially large and small cats!
Aliens will find Earth absolutely amazingly beautiful and fragile to behold. But if they get close enough, they'll see 7,000,000,000 of us and think "Uh oh, that's a lot for such a small planet. Wonder if we should help?"

I agree with mjimih, too.
On our planet there are pets and pets.
For example, in my house there is a pet in free.
Is a black bird that step on cable of TV and hit with the peak the window to order food.
We give toast crumbs.
So if before hitting the window gives a concert of several melodies.
When there isn´t toast in the window, jumps to my computer desk, looking for food when no one is around....

That is lovely!
My cousin saved an injured baby starling when we were both younger and it lived in his house for years, flying in and out but always coming back home. He was named Chippy. When we visited, Chippy would shout for my Dad - who was tall - to let the bird sit on his wrist. Dad would then walk back and forth with his arm in the air, with Chippy able thereby to reach the moths and other flies that would be flying up near the ceiling. (Because of the bird, my aunt didn't use any insecticide, and - as she lived in the country side - sometimes there would be lots of 'daddy-long- legs' flies!)

Excellent table manners! No one is throwing food around or complaining about the food and they leave the plates on the spot! :D

This is the strangest cat and box picture I saw:

For patient viewers:

Watch deers, wildpigs, birds in a forest and a man feeding them occasionally live!
The view shows a forest in Estonia toward west, you can see sunset when not totally clouded !

It's got audio too!

here is a bird feeding live cam:

New Addition
This morning our goat Yentl kidded, producing this little girl. She's got a rear leg that's a bit wonky, but otherwise seems fine. Good conditions, no snow on the ground, sunny with temperatures above 5°C. Yentl is two years old, and this is her first. Between the two we're looking at lots of milk for the foreseeable future.
