M95 a Barred Spiral Galaxy located in the constellation Leo (next to Mars now). It has a peculiar core of strings of clusters and currently several days ago a Super Nova (2012aw) has developed marked, Presently shines at magnitude 13 and is exspected to brighten more. Light reflections spikes due to Mars being close 1/2 deg. effected the image the inset is before without the SN.
Same Equipment on both images and author.

Supernova SN2012aw in M95

Just a quick grab between imaging other objects- 15 minute exposure with a 16" RC- no calibration and a lot of fringing on the thinned CCD.

Mars pride (ie, reflexion) would get in the way when I was trying to image galaxies M95 & 96 in Leo, including noticeable SN2012aw. I liked so much the effect that decided to complete the image.

Thanks for looking.
