One more vote for recording the talk and subsequent events (as weather permits). Have been watching APOD for many years--even since before the 1 April Quidditch match!

Hi,
I live in Brazil, and would also love to hear the speech too.

I hope that someone can record the speech and share with us. APOD is the greatest place on internet to get curious info about the universe., and I try to read it almost every day...

Sounds like a good time

Hope it is fine weather. MP3 or webcast would be cool but I'll not be crushed if it doesn't happen- still have the APOD. But, my god; listen to some of you whine! Hey- most New Yorkers don't get to see the Sequoias. Enjoy what you have and don't begrudge others a good time.

I work in downtown Manhattan and if I have some free time after I get off of work, I'll go down. But I have no means of recording his lecture. :(

I would love to attend also but live in a galaxy far, far away in Waynesboro, Georgia. How about recording the whole thing with pictures and make available on the APOD web site?

This could be a new aspect of APOD....a webcast of the slides plus the audio...I think the audience for this would be enormous, I very nice thing for NASA to sponsor or the Planetary Society...

Dr Nemiroff would probably make use of a Powerpoint (PPS) or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) presentation. To this end, access to this file would be a very good start. Now, as for the ensuing descriptions and discussions, some form of MP3 would be required.

Could something be done on Sirius Satellite Radio, for us elsewhere in North America. :D

Wherever in the world we are on January 7th, we can all step outside and encourage Machholz to get safely through the Pleiades. However we can't all fit into the museum hall. Please provide a recorded copy.

Hi from the students of Pontefract NEW College - Yorkshire, UK

One would love to see a broadcast. I and a few others check out the APOD everyday, and some of the pictures are fantastic. Great work guys.

Pictures/MP3 would be great.

Happy New Year! I was too drunk to read APOD both days lol.

Regards Tom Swinden ;)

APOD Speaker Engagement

I'm addicted! Not only to the pictures, but also the commentary, the links, the sly humor that works into the site from time to time. I, too, hope it can be shared with us to some extent. Perhaps, if nothing else, a "Best of 2004" site with a commentary to go with the photos? I blush to ask for so much work from someone so busy - but on the other hand, I've always received a prompt and courteous reply to my off-the-wall questions.

Thank you for being there for all of us.

I agree with a lot of the views expressed re location/recording.

I live in the UK and find the APOD Site one of the most fascinating around.

I would love to hear the lecture and back the idea of an MP3.

Another vote for internet access to Mr (Dr, I expect) Nemiroff's presentation.
I also strongly suggest that Messrs Nemiroff and Bonnell swallow their modesty and give us an APOD of themselves sometime soon. WE WANT TO SEE YOU BOTH.
Thank you for APOD

APOD Jan 7 Lecture - Time incorrect??

Hullo all
Any other Astronomy teachers out there who adore and use heavily APOD?
Anywho, I checked out the AAA website, and it says that the lecture time is 6:15, not 6:30:

http://aaa.org/aaalecture.htm

I will try to attend, especially considering that I am 30 mins from AMNH, and I really should attend, but I have no means of recording, and so this sentence is moot.

No means of recording, a simple video camcorder will do. Then it's a matter of sampling the audio (no need for video as this would probably cause bandwidth issue with potentiel server)

Happy New Year and Long live the APOD team. Good luck getting a netcast for far-flung enthusiasts around the world. I am sure there are some little LGMs and BIMs out in deep space equally keen to hear the lecture

also, how early do you think we should get there to make sure we have seats?
