I was mesmerized by this young lady at Cirque du Soleil recently... this YouTube is not from the show but is also quite impressive.

Thank you all for joining the Starship Asterisk* Band !

Everyone can anytime join us!

I enjoy the music in my yard from the weather and critters as much as, sometimes more so, than human creations.
EMC, you got in your backyard these pets?

Hi Moonlady,

I didn't see the movie but I think I'm glad I don't have those  ... I do have birds mostly and the occasional cat communique. We have multiple bird feeders so we get a goodly amount of feathered tweeting visitors. I find it soothing to watch and listen from my back and front porches. I also enjoy the sound of the rain when it isn't locally life threatening with all that electrical conductivity. But I actually enjoy a good thunder storm when it isn't within my neighborhood. (Does that make me evil? :o )

This Space became interesting. Everyone exposes a different type of music.
Moonlady, proposed " Starship Asterisk Band " Good idea.
Count me in acoustic or electric guitar.
It would be an " astronomical BAND " :D

I listen to this soundtrack when I feel sad but have no one to relate to on the matter. It's counter-intuitive to listen to depressing music to feel better but, somehow, it feels good. The unfortunate thing is that the compression provides an inferior listening experience. If it interests you at all I suggest finding something better than YouTube to listen to it.

Very interesting movie, the Fountain. It's like watching tv and switching between three movies.

A song I like for a melancholic phase is this: it's in the end of the movie Reign Over Me - with Adam Sandler in a totally different role, I didn't recognize him, a friend
brought the DVD and we watched it together, Adam Sandler can be a good actor.

Geckzilla, interesting idea for a topic.

Soundtracks, to me, are hit and miss. Sometimes music is an integral part of a movie; other times the sound track feels like nothing but filler.

One of my favorite movies is Everything Is Illuminated. It has a great soundtrack. I can't understand what they are saying but I love it. Rok n Rolla!

I enjoy a variety of genres of music. I grew up listening to classical and jazz; I still enjoy them today. Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Strauss, Tchaikovsky to name a few. When I think of Jazz, I think Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz.

In terms of Rok N Rolla, I grew up listening to the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater, the Stones, and Jimmy Hendrix. This led to Zepplin and my favorite of the classics: Pink Floyd. I was in high school when Pearl Jam came along; I loved those Seattle bands, but eventually moved further toward the alternative/indie bands of the 90's. If I had to claim my favorite of all time, it would be Radiohead.

Here's an older but mighty-fine Radiohead song, Just.

Orca, that Rok n Rolla is funny :D , the info to the youtube clip says:
It soon became famous for its vulgar lyrics containing Russian mat, the main reason it was avoided by most radio stations at first. But this did not stop its growing popularity. As Shnurov said himself: "Our songs are just about the good sides of life, vodka and girls that is." The band is known to be disliked by Moscow mayor Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov, who cancelled many of their concerts in the city. But since then, the band has made its way to radio and TV (filler noises covering the rude words, certain songs containing many of these filler noises),

Bystander, I thought that this is a song about all the melodramatic, hopeless romantic movies...........but it definedly goes better after watching a while
The melody sounds like in the 80s.

This song meant a lot to me, when I decided to go my own way, no wasting days and follow my dreams, before my dreams get old, my family will never understand,
There are not many German songs I like. This clip contains also the English translation.
