This morning I was out on the frozen lake of Storsjön, Jämtland Sweden, to capture the sunrise. When I got home I saw that one of the photos showed a solar flash just behind the city hall of Östersund.

Web Evolved Calcium K False Color

The Internet is changing the way images and image-rs collect and process data. International astronomy web forums allow image-rs the opportunity to collaborate and produce images that otherwise might go unseen. These Calcium K images of Active Region 1944(one of the larger Active regions of Solar Cycle 24) were captured and processed by members of the Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project (CBSAP). The images were captured by Ralph Smith from Cairns, Queensland Australia and processed by Joe Sullivan from San Diego, California. Earths size is approximated from comparisons with NASA SOHO white light images.

Collaborations between amateur astronomers from all over the world using the Internet to communicate and develop imagery is the new norm in amateur astronomy.

That's a lovely image, Andre. The colors are beautiful and delicate, and the nebula really appears to be "on fire"! The image looks wonderfully three-dimensional.

On January 23, 2014 a United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket launched the TDRS-L communications and data relay satellite for NASA from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) will connect mission control with the International Space Station and other orbiting satellites.

At T+plus 1 minutes, 20 seconds the Atlas 5 created a strange colorful image as it raced skyward.

Photo taken from the Saturn V Center, a distance of about 5 miles.

Ten years of Jupiter oppositions ( 2004-2014 ). Wanted to go back further to 1985 but the quality are way below to the modern era of digital videos compare to SLR cameras at the time and single image if your lucky. Many equipments were used at the time to the present. Equipments: Sct's 10in, 12in. Ccd's TC740, 840, Sac 7, DMK21, Flea3.

I always love your (prolific) work Efrain! My own images of Jupiter through a 6" scope are just starting to look like yours did in 2005. What happened to 2013?
