Unfortunately, the outer premises of our new apartment have lights that maximize light pollution :(

As beautiful as this short video and musical accompaniment was, it's sobering to think that the vast universe we are embedded in cares not a whit for the current dire plight of humankind on planet earth. We're all - and only us - in this together indeed.

Or, it cares about us ... cares enough to "cull the herd" when we won't do it ourselves.
(Okay, I don't totally believe the above, but I think it's an interesting point for discussion.)

Seriously, Why is it that our brains prefer to see the world as stationary, while it is so hard to fathom that the sky is not moving, we are, in a time lapse? (Well other than the atmosphere)

SOUTHERN CROSS
(Steve Cash & John Dillon)

There's a lot of folks down at the island
That follow that astrologee
Some got a chart of the Heavens
And some got a fancy degree
But me, I got a pickup
And I drive it like the Fourth of July
And that's where I seen the vision
When it fell right outta the sky –

It said, “Follow…

Follow the Southern Cross
Leave your luck in Mexico
There ain't no way to get lost
‘Cause there ain't no place to go!”

So I bought me a ticket to Texas
And I hopped on a plane to Peru
I met a little lady from Chile
And she fed me a tropical root
Now I'm down in Tierra del Fuego
And nothin' aroun’ me is right
I think I got a case of lumbago
But it's better than the Northern Lights —

I’ve got to follow…

Follow the Southern Cross
Leave your luck in Mexico
There ain't no way to get lost
‘Cause there ain't no place to go!

[ HORNS CUT LOOSE … with Siren ]

So I paddled out to Easter Island
(A)bout as fast as I could go
I saw an albatross on the horizon
And the stone heads all in a row
I found the secret of navigation
And the Mystery of the Milky Way
Now I'm livin' in the constellations
Tell me what more can I say?

You’ve got to follow…

Follow the Southern Cross
And leave your luck in Mexico
There ain't no way to get lost
‘Cause there ain't no place to go!

WOOOOO !

[ MORE HORNS… and Fade ]
