army6894 asks What Star Is This?

http://asterisk.apod.com/viewtopic.php?t=736

I live in Pensacola,Fl. My back patio faces the west. Just after sunset, there is only one visable star, it is high in the southwest sky and extremely bright. Over a period of a few hours, it gets lower on my visable horizon and appears to move more to the west. Can anybody tell me what star this is?

Hope someone can help? :)

I think is was Venus you, or army6894, were seeing.
I'm not in Pensacola, but Sky & Telescope has a great interactive sky chart that you can specify your location and time, etc., and up comes the sky for that date/time/location. It's very informative. (at least, I get a lot of use from it!) I'll see if I can figure out how to insert the link:
http://skyandtelescope.com/observing/sk ... 220_1.asp#
(Hope it worked!) Otherwise, just go to Sky and Telescope dot come, and find it under 'Observing', down the left side.
Hope this was helpful. Oh, and may your skies be clear! :D
